Mobile home law under the spotlight
Radio 4 picks up the campaign to increase legislative protection for park home owners
The drive to strengthen protection by law for park home owners continued last week with Radio 4's You and Yours programme airing a short interview with Richard Younger-Ross on Friday.
Lib Dem MP for Teignbridge, Richard Younger-Ross is an avid campaigner for park home residents and used the show to discuss a recent debate in the House of Commons on tightening up current legislation.
He covers areas such as the enforcement of site licences, the unpopular commission on sale payment and the introduction of a fit and proper person requirement for park owners.

For the last ten years I have been a Parish Councilor and have tried to get the Local District COUNCIL to enforce The Site Licence, impossible! They either accepts the site owner's exscuses for ignoring legislation or they maintain ( and I have these comments in writing ) it would be a waste of rate payers money taking him to Court, and the courts would agree! So what hope? Incidentally the local authority do not believe an up to date Electrical Safety Certificate is a safety concern, between 3-8 months without such a document every time one is required. Try driving your car on the road without tax for this amount of time!

Fantastic! regarding my comments of 02.05 08 for the FIRST time our Park Owner has instructed his electrical company to start work on replacing the Electrical Safety Certificate TWO months BEFORE the old one expires. Ten years of constantly writing to the local authority to ensure such practise takes place and eventually it has born fruit. Maybe the site owner actually reads these comments?

A neighbour came to me today very distressed because he was confronted by the manager of our site who had found out that he was going to have repairs to his porch that is leaking, and the front of his home that has rotting wood.
He was told that he must inform head office to get permission for this work to be carried out.
Is this right ,its his home that needs repair ,not the landlords property.
