WE WANT
‘We'd like a twin unit home, at least 38ft long with two bedrooms including en-suite - one bedroom is used for exercise equipment. It needs to have enough space for a ramp to give access, doors wide enough to accommodate the wheelchair and a small garden with parking. The homes shouldn't be too close together - we value our privacy. There should be shops close by. And it must be within easy reach of Stockport.'
WE CAN AFFORD...
‘We have put our 2005 40ft x 20 Omar Sandringham up for sale and hope to get around £130,000 for it. That will be our budget for the new home, although we may be able to up that figure if necessary.
LOCATION 1
THE PEAKS
With its hilly backdrop, the Peaks lies only a few hundred yards outside the Peak District National Park, midway between Chapel-en-Le-Frith and Whaley Bridge.
Although next to the B5470 and in the centre of the hamlet of Tunstead Milton, this park is invisible from the road; with no sign either. You will find it down in a dip flanked on one side by a cattle feedstuffs plant and on the other by fields, with hills forming a backdrop.
The easiest way of locating The Peaks is to take the turning by the bus stop.
Buses stop right at the entrance, providing a service to Chapel and Whaley as well as Manchester Airport. That, together with the fact that there are two railway stations within a mile and the M1 motorway is 25 miles away mean that transport links are good.
The park homes - the licence is for 14 and there is space for just four twins and 10 singles here - are on sloping ground, grouped around a central car parking area, with some on terraces above. Five have drives for parking, the other residents using the car park.
There is no mains sewerage here, a cesspit providing the necessary amenity - resident managers Janet and Gus Daley look after things like that.
You won't find any shops or pubs in Tunstead Milton but Whaley and Chapel, a mile away in opposite directions, provide just about everything you need.

LOCATION 2
PUNCH BOWL PARK
Located on the site of a former stone quarry, Punch Bowl Park is spread across 10 acres and has a licence for 100 plots but only 58 are used and there is a large numbers of trees as well as an open field.
Because of the lie of the land, this mature park divides naturally into three sections, all with quite steep approach roads. Over five decades, it has been extensively redeveloped by three generations of the Turner family, several members of which live on site.
They reckon that, at 1,100ft above sea level, this ranks as the highest residential park in the country - England's highest pub, the Cat & Fiddle, is only four miles away.
Unusually, there is no minimum age at the Punch Bowl and resident children are welcome, although in fact there are none currently living here.
Buses stop at the park entrance six days a week and will take you half a mile down the hill into Buxton, a bustling tourist town offering all the usual services and amenities. Those include a theatre as well as a cosmopolitan collection of restaurants.
There is a golf course within half a mile; footpaths galore for exploring the Peak District National Park and no shortage of river and lake fishing. That's not to mention the scenic delights of the Goyt Valley and Dovedale.

For sale when we visited was a new 36ft x 12 Tingdene Mackworth costing £85,000 on a redeveloped corner plot. There was a vacant plot being developed for siting a 38ft x 20, possibly with garage. A second plot suitable for a twin is due to become vacant soon. Also for sale was a 1995 37ft x 10 Tingdene Hayden Classic, price £65,000.
AND NOW FOR OUR FAVOURITE
PUNCH BOWL PARK
‘The Peaks offered some lovely views across the fields towards the Derbyshire hills but they didn't measure up to the attractions of Punch Bowl Park. We loved it - the location, the setting, the outlook, the layout. It ticks all the boxes, simple as that.'
OUR FAVOURITE BITS
The owners came across as committed, caring people - and they live on site.
The plot that is being redeveloped combines privacy with practicality
Being able to have a garage on our plot would be a real bonus.
